The water heater broke in my apartment the other day. LUCKILY I was home when it happened! If I wasn't home to shut off the main water valve the whole place would have been flooded!

I was doing some thinking and was wondering what would have happened if the water had reached the outlets??? Would it have tripped the circuit breakers and automatically shut the electricity off so to prevent a fire or electrical shock?
