'Primary master hard disk failure, IDE hard disk failure and recovery

IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) is an interface commonly used hard drive. Motherboards are generally provided with IDE connectors Two IDE0 (primary IDE) and IDE1 (secondary IDE). For each connector IDE, you can attach two devices to the maximum, where one is given the highest priority and referred to as a master drive and the second is a low priority and is designated as a slave. But sometimes the system requests that can not recognize the IDE drive as failed. This is where the hard drive recovery becomes necessary to recover the lost data.

A symptom it presents, while hard disk failure is the appearance of error messages like:

"Failure on hard disk primary master"

As the error message says, a system refers to the failure of primary master hard drive. It is also sometimes referred as drive 0, which is entirely dependent on number and type of drives installed BIOS.

Cause of error message:

The hard drive has failed to communicate properly with the system, probably due to a physical failure. The causes may be relevant: Read / Write head crash, the failure of arms control, crash spindle motor, controller problems of disk firmware corruption or electronic problems. In some cases, bad wiring could also be a cause of this error message. These cables can turn bad due to problems such as heat, wear etc.

Solution

Users should consider following options:

• If the disc drive has disappeared physically misuse of the system should shut it down immediately. The hard disk should be replaced by a new and data can be restored from a recent backup on the new disc. If the backup is not available or faulty recovery service data can be used for optimal recovery.

• If the wiring is bad behavior, the user can replace defective cable with new ones.
