Can I get a detailed explanation on how to change the fuel tank and fuel pump on my Chevrolet Silverado 1989?
the tank is leaking and I'm not a car mechanic in any way, but I did not have the money to have done in a store. I already have the fuel tank replacement. I thought I should change the fuel pump when he was off too because I think it is in the gas tank, but I could be wrong.
If you have no idea how to do it, DO NOT do this work. To replace a fuel pump, water pump, battery is one thing when someone does not know what they do. But to replace a tank gas by a person without experience is problematic. A machine shop in my town has a recruit to modify a tank at the store. This shop exploded later that day and killed 2 people. When I worked at Lexus and they were removing a gas tank. EVERYONE in service area had to leave while only 2 mechanics have done the work. An empty fuel tank is like a bomb. The last person you want touch a bomb is a person without experience. Save money and have a professional do the job.
