Foot Pain and Orthotics How You Can Help

Foot pain and how orthotics can help

Pain foot is very common and it is estimated that 75% of people suffer from some form of foot pain at some point in their lives. The foot is a complex structure consisting of 26 bones, 33 joints, layered with an intertwining web of more than 120 muscles, ligaments and nerves. With every step, a force of 2-3 of our body weight is placed on our feet during a typical day, people take 8,000 to 10,000 steps. Therefore, it is not surprising that at some point of our lives we will suffer some type of foot complaint. This article highlights the most common types of foot pain and how orthotics can help.

The 5 foot common complaints are: -

Plantar heel - Pain ( Fasciitis)

Heel pain is the most common problem foot. Heel pain is often experienced with his first step out of bed in the morning and is presented by pain and unexpectedly high in the heel. Heel pain is commonly caused by a painful stretching and micro-tearing of the plantar fascia (the band Flat tissue that connects your heel bone to the toes). The plantar fascia supports the arch of the foot. Plantar fasciitis is Latin for inflammation of the fascia Plantar. Normally, the fascia is flexible and strong. However, due to factors such as overweight, age, overuse and over-pronation the fascia can become irritated and inflamed. With excessive tension on the plantar fascia ligament attachment on the calcaneus (heel bone) begins to detach from the bone. After a while a "spur" may develop in the bottom front of the heel bone. During rest (eg when you sleep), the plantar fascia shortens and tightens. When getting up, the weight is rapidly applied to the foot and fascia must stretch and grow rapidly, causing micro-tears in the fascia. Thus, the throbbing pain with your first steps in the morning.

Plantar Fasciitis heel pain and heel spurs are better treated with simple methods and non-surgical. However, most heel pain is present, it is more secure. Pain heel is best addressed by doing some simple stretching exercises, combined with an orthotic foot. In this way, the tension on the plantar fascia is published by treating the cause of the problem, not just the symptom.

2) Arch Pain

Arch pain is caused by the same state as heel pain: "The plantar fasciitis. The difference is that the inflammation of the fascia occurs under the arch, rather than the heel bone. Treatment of arch pain is exactly the same as heel pain.

3) Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles tendonitis is an inflammation of the Achilles tendon. The Achilles tendon connects the calf muscles to the heel bone and just behind the ankle joint. Achilles pain occurs just above the heel and sometimes the Achilles tendon is thickened and tender to touch. Achilles tendonitis should not be left untreated because of the danger that the tendon can become weak and rupture. Achilles pain is aggravated by activities that repeatedly stress the tendon, causing inflammation. The cause of Achilles Tendonitis is too soft tendon Achilles leading to irritation and inflammation. There are several factors that can cause Achilles tendonitis, including more use, thight muscles of the calf and age. The most common cause, however, is over-pronation. When the roof collapses on weight bearing, large stress is placed on the Achilles tendon.

Treatment includes rest Tendontis Achilles (or reduced activity), the calf stretch and ice packs. Orthotics are recommended to support the arches, reducing the stress on the Achilles tendon.

4) Ball of foot pain (Metatarsalgia)

Metatarsalgia is a general term for pain in the metatarsal area of the foot most commonly known the sole of the foot. Many women suffer from metatarsalgia wearing high heels, but this condition can also occur in men. Port (high) heels through most of the body weight is concentrated on the forefoot, which excessive pressure in the ball of the foot.

Metatarsalgia is often described as a burning sensation in the ball of the foot, combined with pitiless excesses forming. Ball of Foot Pain (Metatarsalgia) occurs when the metatarsals (Toe bones) and ligaments surrounding fall weaken. The whole structure collapses forefoot, which then leads to an overpressure and friction under the ball of the foot.

Effective treatment of pain of the foot is to reduce excessive force placed in the front. pressure unloading the ball of the foot can be accomplished by wearing orthotics with metatarsal support built.

- Onions (hallux valgus Abducto)

A bunion is an enlargement often painful joint on the side of the big toe. The big toe is bent inwards and forms a bony lump on the outside. The hump is actually a bone protruding towards the inside of the foot. In Over time the mass becomes larger and the bunion can become painful. Stiffness can eventually develop even arthritis. With continued movement of the big toe toward the smaller toes, it is common to find the big toe off during the second toe. Symptoms include inflammation of onions, pain and swelling and outside of the big toe, often causing the victim to walk with difficulty.

Onions can grow from an abnormality of foot function (eg over-pronation) or by wearing shoes of incorrect installation. Tight, narrow dress shoes with a box constrictive toe can lead to the formation of an onion. The best way to alleviate the pain associated with onions is to wear shoes snug. Orthotics are also recommended for this condition to provide extra comfort, support and protection.
