5 HP Briggs and Stratton Wont Start?
ok i have a little 5 hp briggs today i broke the connecting rod because i ran it to long but i tore it down and put a piston and new rings in it. then my shaft messed up so i got one from another motor i had around i used the same cam the walls are smooth as can be to. i am not sure but i held my motor by the flywheel it went upside down could my oil have went in the carb or sumtin.my flywheel is still in place and the cam dot and gear dot are together i can put gas in the carb and spark plug hole and it still wont start any help would be appreciated
it spark is good but when gas is in the carb its kinda oily would nt it still fire up if i pour a little in the carb
OK you still have it out of time , when you switch , the cam shaft and crankshaft , you caused the valves out of time , there is a gap between the tappet's to the valves , check the b& s book on how much gap there is between the valves and how to time them , also not all cams are the same , and not all the crank gear that runs the cam is the same , double check your old parts to the ones you put in , you may want to get new parts and put the right one in it , also check your air gap to the coil to flywheel , some times that can mess you up as well
