craftsman 42" riding Mower Belt problems?
i have a craftsman 42" cut hydro drive riding mower model# 917252531...15 h.p briggs engine.. i can cut like one streak of grass an the deck belt will jump off could it be my belt be worn or stretched. your advice will be very helpful
First, how old and the condition of the belt. Check the belt thoroughly and look for any cracks , checking, or cuts on it. If so replace it. If not, Check all the pulleys and mounting points for breakage or worn bearings. Also check tension springs for breakage and correct attachment. If these are all good, reinstall belt and check the alignment of all the pulleys and guides, and the deck mounting points for any missing pins. If you removed the deck at any time, the belt guide may be loose or have been overlooked at the last installation. This would also be a good time to check the wear on the blade brakes (safety concern). The three most likely are the belt, out of adjustment, or something broke.
